What does poverty look like? There are no safety nets.

Almost 50 percent of the population is just one tragedy from generational poverty.  One story reminds me of the frailty of life and the desperate need for the Gospel’s rich salvation.

Ser Bahadur, a non-Christian mason fell from the roof of a church construction project and became paralyzed.  We immediately coordinated with the pastor to provide medical assistance to Bahadur. 

Our Metro Nepal staff follow up with Home Visitations.  Ser Bahadur’s young non-Christian wife, holding a new-born in her arms, asked for a wheel-chair for her bed-ridden paralyzed husband.  She wants to bring him out to sit in the sun.  To once again enjoy God’s beautiful creation and socially engage with friends and loved-ones.

In these moments, your heart breaks.  There are no safety nets for the poor.  No insurance policies.    

We source a wheel-chair and provide monthly support to this young wife and mother.  Because of our supporters’ gracious giving, our front-line staff is able to demonstrate God’s practical love and avert generational poverty for Ser Bahadur and his family.

Life is unpredictably harsh and extremely fragile.  The only safety net is the Gospel of Christ which assures eternal hope to the poor.
